Upbeat Music Could Boost Physiotherapy Results
Most people would agree that listening to upbeat music increases their motivation to work out. Any form of exercise is made easier when partnered with an energetic playlist to get you through.
The participants were asked to continue exercising for as long as they felt physically able to. The results showed that those who were listening to the up-tempo music, could on average, exercise for 10% longer than their counterparts.
Moreover, those that were listening to the music tended to expend more energy than those who were not. Therefore, this is a good indication that patients undergoing physiotherapy could really benefit from listening to upbeat music whilst doing so.
The author of the study, Dr Waseem Shami, has said: "Our findings reinforce the idea that upbeat music has a synergistic effect in terms of making you want to exercise longer and stick with a daily exercise routine. When doctors are recommending exercise, they might suggest listening to music too."
