Samaritans are a 24/7 charity who you can call at any time of day, for as long as you like. They are not trained mental health professionals but are there to listen and will explore what living with your mental health issues mean for you.
Mind campaigns to improve mental health services, awareness and understanding. They provide advice and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem, including those who are suffering from work-related mental health issues, such as PTSD.
Elefriends, run by Mind, is a supportive online community where you can be yourself, talk about your feelings and receive help and advice from others who may be in similar situations.
If you are aged between 13-25 years of age, The Mix is a great free and confidential multi-channel service, where you can choose how you receive help. Whether this be via email, peer-to-peer or phone call, or through their articles and video content online, you can receive help and support without the worry of anyone else finding out.
Rethink Mental Illness Advice Line
Rethink provide expert, accredited information and advice. They have over 200 mental health services and 150 support groups across England; these range from Crisis/Recovery Houses and psychological therapies to peer support groups and housing services.
Young Minds are the UK’s leading charity who strive to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. They give information on all of the possible treatments for mental health illnesses, who’s who in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and also offer a free ‘Parent’s Helpline’.
SANE provides emotional support and information through their helpline, email services and online support forum. They have over 130 volunteers who receive extensive training, so you can share your feelings and experiences in confidence.
Turn2Me is an innovative e-mental healthcare support system, where you can remain anonymous and share your feelings without fear of recognition or judgement. They have an online daily mood diary where you can select your mood and track your thoughts, as well as self-help guides, peer support and professional support.
Childline gives plenty of information on 14 different mental health issues you or your child may be facing, along with ample advice for each one. These issues range from loneliness to panic attacks to suicidal feelings.
