Healthcare Assistant - Substance Misuse - Stroud, Gloucester - £19,000 - £20,114 per annum

Working hours: Monday to Friday - 9am - 5pm

We are currently looking for an experienced healthcare assistant to join a Substance Misuse Clinic in Stroud, Gloucester. For this position, you must have experience of drug and alcohol treatment services or other similar background.

They require an experienced HCA with a positive attitude that is willing to learn and understand the treatment process. The service provides an Alcohol Liaison Service, an Alcohol Detox Service and an Opiate Replacement Service for NHS patients.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a national charity with a reputation for delivering excellence in services for people with drug and alcohol dependency issues. You will enhance current service delivery and play a key part in improving the health of people who use the services. You will work alongside a clinical team and will be responsible for providing a range of harm reduction interventions alongside clinical interventions

Essential skills for this role:

* Knowledge of general office procedures
* IT literacy including proficiency in word processing and data entry
* Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work flexibly as part of a team
* The ability to respond to appropriate requests for assistance, maintaining confidentiality whenever necessary
* Good organisational skills
* Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults procedures
* Knowledge of the issues facing substance mis-users including appropriate medical interventions, social care and health issues
* Ability to work with and manage challenging behaviour
* Ability to work with and manage challenging behaviour
* The ability to communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing

Essential requirements of this Health Care Assistant role:

* Experience as a healthcare assistant working within a drug and alcohol treatment service or other similar background
* Previous experience in health care support work
* The legal right to work in the UK
