We are currently recruiting for an highly experienced RMN or RNLD to take on a challenging role within a Female Deaf Ward in Bury, Lancashire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Ward Manager, or Senior Nurse with management potential to join this unique Service.

The successful Ward Manager will be managing a Medium Secure Ward which is the only Deaf Service for women available in the UK, and provides care for patients from the age of 18 years.

This Service in Bury is highly specialised in offering culturally sensitive treatment for Deaf patients with mental disorders. Staff at this service are highly skilled in British Sign Language (BSL) and the successful RMN or RNLD will be given the opportunity for BSL training.

The main duties of a Ward Manager on this Ward will include:

  • Developing and implementing of appropriate care delivery systems and routine
  • Ensuring compliance is met with the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety Leading
  • Developing a highly effective, motivated and enthusiastic team to achieve the goals of the unit 
  • Working within the agreed budget by managing resources and ensuring the effective administration of the unit's management and support systems
  • Administering drugs and checking/preparations in accordance with NMC guidelines 
  • Identifying the care needs of patients while planning and implementing Nursing intervention

You need to have:

  • An RMN or RNLD qualification
  • A current, valid registration with the NMC
  • The legal right to work in the UK
  • Previous ward manager or senior nurse experience
