We are currently recruiting for an experienced Nurse or ODP to take on a theatre practitioner role within the medirooms in an NHS Bristol hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop your career within the NHS or seek a career change and wanting to move into the NHS. The hospital is able to support nurses of all levels of experience to move into the mediroom services by using simulation theatres and a fantastic induction to get nurses up to speed. The mediroom is an exciting concept enabling more patient to nurse contact.

Your duties as a Theatre Practitioner will involve:

  • Identifying the specific perioperative needs of patients undergoing a variety of surgeries
  • Acting as scrub practitioner for a variety of specialities
  • Acting as circulating nurse for a variety of surgical specialities
  • Assisting in the handover of care to the Mediroom area
  • Supporting the anaesthetic and Mediroom staff as and when required
  • Ensuring all equipment is cleaned, checked daily and maintained and take appropriate action in regards to faulty equipment
  • Taking responsibility for ensuring safe lifting techniques when assisting in the movement and lifting of patients and equipment
  • Participating in audit and research
  • Maintaining appropriate stock levels within the theatre areas and participate in budgetary control

Essential requirements:

  • An RGN or ODP qualification
  • Surgical/medical experience
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • NMC registration
