Occupational Therapist - Adult Social Care - Enfield - £28 - £30 per hour

36 hours per week, 3-month term contract

We are currently looking for a highly experienced Occupational Therapist to join the adult social care team with one of our social care clients based in Enfield, London. The successful Occupational Therapist will be required to support social workers and care co-ordinators with joint assessments and reviews.

They are ideally looking for an Occupational Therapist who has working knowledge of safeguarding principles/ practice.

36 hours per week on a 3-month term with possibility to continue

Role responsibilities as an Occupational Therapist - Adult Social Care:

* To undertake assessment of risk involving safeguarding of vulnerable adults/carers and their families across a range of settings.
* Taking responsibility and working with individuals facing complex social and family crisis across a range of settings
* Promoting autonomy and development with individuals who have complex needs and are more vulnerable to exclusion.
* Working with communities, individuals and families to promote their personal strengths.
* To assess, review and provide help to an individual, family or carer with complex family or social care needs,
* To carry out an assessment or enquiry and plan responses with an adult, their representative or advocate if they lack capacity,
* To safeguard clients from abuse, neglect or exploitation, building effective relationships with individuals and families as appropriate.
* To enable an adult who has been abused or neglected to improve their circumstances, where it is unclear whether the person lacks mental capacity to make decisions, or where it is unclear whether their decisions are compromised by the undue influence of others.
* To seek to promote social justice and rights by challenging neglect, discrimination and exclusion, and helping to build safe, strong and caring social networks and communities.
* To take a lead on community development to assess, identify and maximise the strengths or assets of individuals, their families and their communities to increase independence and quality of life.
* To help people facing significant personal adversity to improve their health, well-being and social engagement.
* To build relationships with individuals and families who find it difficult to engage with services but need support to develop or maintain independence or autonomy. For example, older people with social care needs who wish to remain at home.
* In integrated teams, to positively contribute to the achievement of joint working practices.
* Prepare sketch plans/diagrams and schemes of work with other agencies and evaluate the safe use of equipment and adaptations.
* To review effectiveness of equipment and instruct service users and carers on the safe use of equipment and comply with relevant legislation, policy and guidelines on safe working practices, thereby reducing risks.
* Assess and provide therapeutic intervention focusing on enablement and prevention to increase independence and meet the aspirations of service users.
* Working closely with the working age adult teams and older people teams devise enablement programmes to support progression for the service user and provide evidence-based outcomes in line with the care act.

The successful Occupational Therapist will have experience of:

* Providing professional occupational therapy services
* Undertaking and reviewing assessments of users in consultation with other health professionals.
* providing aids and rehabilitation for people with disabilities
* On occasions designing tailor made equipment and adaptations to users' homes and provide advice on design and planning of buildings and facilities
* Assessing the needs of people as they relate to housing adaptations
* Initiating and coordinating appropriate outcomes identified in the assessment
* Reviewing services to ensure they continue to meet the identified outcomes.
* Safeguarding vulnerable adults
* Advising on home and workplace environmental alterations, such as adjustments for wheelchair access;
* Liaising with other professionals, such as doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, equipment suppliers and architects, as well as patient's families, carers and employers;
* Writing reports and attending multidisciplinary case meetings to plan and review ongoing treatment.
* Managing a caseload, prioritising needs, and completing administrative tasks

The successful Occupational Therapist MUST have:

* HCPC registration
* The legal right to work in the UK
