Full Time (Monday - Friday), 37.5 hours a week

We are currently seeking a full time practice development nurse to join our client's specialist brain injury neurological care and rehabilitation service at Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre.

The centre provides person-centred inpatient rehabilitation and care for male and female adolescents and adults (over 17 years) with a brain injury or other complex neurological condition. Throughout their stay, patients are encouraged to make individual choices about all aspects of life and to be as independent as possible. 

The centre is located in South East London close to Blackheath and Lewisham, directly on the A2 with Greenwich, Lewisham and Blackheath stations all close by.

You will be joining a company who plays an integral part in contributing to new models of care outlined in the Five Year Forward View.

As a Practice Development Nurse working in the Specialist Service, your main duties will be:

  • Providing professional nursing input and care for patients
  • Taking a lead role in the provision and facilitation of a physical and well-being clinic
  • Health screening
  • Smoking reduction/cessation
  • Drug & alcohol awareness
  • Liaising with General Practice
  • A lead for infection control
  • Provision of phlebotomy
  • Educating our staff groups
Essential requirements for this role:

  • A Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Flexible and adaptable, well organised and able to manage time and workload effectively in line with the needs of the service
  • Motivated with the desire to expand your professional development and support organisational change
  • Able to provide demonstrable experience of working in mental health and of enhancing care
  • Legally entitled to work in the UK
