Practice Nurse - RGN - Mental Health Hospital - Warrington - £33,289 – £38,242p/a

37.5 hour working week

We are in need of an experienced practice nurse to join a mental health hospital in Warrington. The successful candidate will become part of a fully compliant female forensic service in a female medium / low secure unit. This is an excellent opportunity for an RGN who is looking to challenge themselves and develop their skills in a challenging environment.

The ideal candidate will be able to take accountability of their role in a nurse-led services and have experience of managing patients with long-term conditions. Knowledge of health promotion strategies would also be beneficial.

This Practice Nurse role will involve:

  • Taking the lead in developing best practice
  • Providing clinical advice to ward-based staff on patients
  • Establishing a 6 monthly physical and full medical screening for all patients
  • Implementing a screening process: taking bloods where necessary
  • Meeting the mandatory testing requirements for prescribed medication
  • Providing a programme of health promotion activity for patients to include well women’s issues
  • Promoting healthy lifestyles and not smoking
  • Assessing and managing minor physical ailments and referring to other professionals as required
  • Liaising and co-ordinating with our visiting GP service

As a qualified Nurse, you must be/have:

  • RGN qualification with current valid NMC pin
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Evidence of clinical practice development
  • Effective verbal/written communication skills
  • Successful experience in working as a member of a MDT
