Practice Nurse - RGN - GP Surgery - Leeds, West Yorkshire - £10,240 per annum

Working hours: 12 hours per week

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) with significant post registration experience to join this GP Surgery as Practice Nurse.  You will have experience working in a similar role or in a district, community or in/outpatients setting.  You will be working across three surgeries in the Leeds, West Yorkshire

You will be expected to have a thorough understanding of clinical and theoretical developments within nursing practice and be experienced in providing clinical leadership and direction to others.  You will be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively and deliver consistently high levels of care.   

As Practice Nurse (RGN) you will be assessing, planning and providing nursing care to meet the needs of the patients in your care.  You will be carrying out health screening and surveillance, baby immunisations, travel vaccinations, family planning amongst other duties. You will be expected to maintain patient confidentiality at all times and proactively work to develop health promotion materials within the practice.

As a Practice Nurse - RGN, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and caring for patients presenting with wounds including removal of sutures, clips and leg ulcer management
  • Immunising and vaccinating, administering injections, ensuring safe storage and implementing cold chain policy
  • Undertaking cervical cytology screening in line with national guidelines
  • Performing venepuncture
  • Assisting with minor surgery

The ideal Practice Nurse - RGN will possess the following:

  • Registered General Nurse qualified with significant post registration experience
  • Good working knowledge on Quality outcomes Framework
  • Ability to relay clinical information and maintain accurate, comprehensive consultation records
  • Sensitivity when dealing with confidential issues
  • Demonstrable experience in primary or secondary care
  • Current and valid registration with the NMC and a legal right to work in the UK
  • Full & Clean UK driving license
