Working Hours: Days or Nights available (8.5 hour shifts), 4 or 5 days per week

We are currently looking for a Staff Nurse with children's experience to work for registered charity who care for over 150 children and young adults, between the ages of 2 and 25, with a range of physical and learning disabilities.

As a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for the health and wellbeing of the students on and off-campus. You will be scheduled mostly during term-time, but will work 12 x 12 hour shifts in the holidays which you will get back as time-off during term time.

Responsibilities of this Staff Nurse (RGN or RMN or RNLD) role include:

* To demonstrate enhanced communication skills with students, parents or guardians, taking into account mental capacity, and any support needed for decision making to enable the students to participate in decisions regarding their health
* To work autonomously using clinical expertise to assess, treat or refer appropriately
* To contribute to clinical governance and meeting CQC regulatory requirements
* To comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity, confidentiality and data protection, reporting concerns to an appropriate person
* Undertake the role of house-based link nurse, being the first point of contact for students, parents, house and education staff, as well as external agencies of key students
* Encourage students independence and self-advocacy, through promoting self-care
* Respond and attend any emergency situation across site, deliver the necessary emergency treatment or first aid; and respond to medication errors in a timely manner
* Contribute to clinical governance, through participating in clinical audit, research and awareness of best practice

Essential requirements of this Staff Nurse (RGN or RMN or RNLD) role include:

* RGN or RMN or RNLD with active NMC PIN
* Recent experience supporting children or adults with physical disabilities, or life limiting conditions
* Awareness of NICE guidelines
* Competency in a range of clinical skills (medication administration, gastrostomy feeding, management of seizures)
* Ability to accompany students on short residential trips if applicable
* Ability to participate in the nurse on-call rota, for advice and support of students going to hospital
* Full UK driver's license
* Eligible to work in the UK
